Richmond is located in the western foothills of the Green Mountains on the eastern edge of the Lake Champlain valley. The Town, organized in 1794, is home of the Round Church, a 16-sided meetinghouse built in 1813 that is recognized as a National Historic Landmark. Bolton is home to Bolton Valley Resort, the only ski area in Chittenden County.
In 2005, Richmond established a Conservation Fund to enable the Town to participate in important conservation projects designed to conserve natural, agricultural and historic resources. Bolton is both a summer and winter recreational destination for people in central Vermont.
