“This winter, I haven’t even turned the furnace on.”
My last Co-op oil delivery was in September 2013. My tank is almost empty. I think I used about 100 gallons two winters ago and about 150 last winter. This winter I’ve added a second heat pump in the basement and haven’t even turned the furnace on. We got down to -17° F a couple of nights and I had a fire in the woodstove to supplement the heat pumps.
In previous winters I’ve burned about 1.5 cords of wood, but this year it’s about a third of a cord. I also have a third heat pump sitting in the garage that I’m going to put in on the second floor.
