Wood Pellets

We have paused deliveries of wood pellets through the spring of 2025. Please note that due to unforeseen circumstances, we are unable to use a pallet jack during deliveries for the foreseeable future. Please note that we have a limited stock of LG available and they will not be available for the 2025 Wood Pellet Early Buy.

The Energy Co-op offers fair prices and dependable delivery on high quality wood pellets as a renewable, low-carbon alternative for Vermont homes.

We encourage our wood pellets customers to become Co-op members in order to take advantage of our early-buy and budget payment plans. Members also receive updates on availability and special offers throughout the season.

Some things to consider when buying wood pellets for your wood pellet stove:

  • Quality and consistency are more important than whether wood pellets are made from hardwoods or softwoods.
  • Look for wood pellets with higher energy content (BTU’s/lb.) because they burn hotter. Look for numbers around 8,000 BTU/lb.
  • Low ash content means less maintenance. Burning a ton of wood pellets with 0.3% ash content produces six pounds of ash; wood pellets with 1% ash content would produce 20 pounds of ash – more than three times as much.
  • Low moisture content means that more energy is used to heat your home instead of evaporating water in the wood pellets.

Free bag of wood pellets TRY BEFORE YOU BUY: The Energy Co-op offers a free bag of wood pellets to new customers so that you can test the wood pellets in your stove before buying a ton or more. Just stop by our Colchester office during regular business hours.

We deliver Vermont Wood Pellets, LG Softwood Pellets, and Maine Pellets anywhere in our service area. (Delivery to Washington County towns in our service territory requires a minimum purchase of 2 pallets.) Our driver will also pick up wooden pallets from previous deliveries for recycling. We are unable to use a pallet jack for deliveries at this time.

OUR MEMBER TESTIMONIALS
"We had the pleasure of being served today by Steve, who delivered our pellets. He called prior to arriving and was extremely polite and accommodating. When he arrived he was absolutely tops in customer service–such a nice man and extremely skilled. What a treat it was to deal with Steve — the experience made our day! You have a gold star employee there and we hope you have a way to recognize that. Thank you. "
- Thomas and Theresa L., Montpelier, Vermont
"We get our wood pellets from Energy Co-Op and are extremely satisfied with the quality of the Vermont Wood Pellets. We tried something different this fall and weren’t happy with those. I called Energy Co-Op (Lisa) and what wonderful customer service. She said they strive for customer satisfaction and replaced all five tons. Of course we had to pay the higher cost for the Vermont pellets but no new delivery charge. I strongly appreciate all they did for us. "
- Brenda B., Burlington, VT
"While I was away today my pellets were delivered and Steve did an awesome job. Pellets right where I wanted, nicely placed next to each other. It’s much appreciated! "
